ANTANANARIVO Engaged, resilient, global: these are the characteristics cultivated by high-quality international education and the themes of this year’s International Education Week (IEW), happening from November 16 – 20.  IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education celebrated around the world every November. The U.S. Embassy in Madagascar and Comoros encourages Malagasy students interested in study abroad to join this year’s free, public IEW events by visiting:

Recounting his own experience as an international student in Paris, U.S. Ambassador Michael P. Pelletier said, Studying abroad opens doors to new worlds. It gives young people the knowledge, skills, and perspectives necessary to contribute to their communities and address global challenges. I hope Malagasy and Comorian students will use this week to explore their options for studying at one of the more than 4,000 accredited universities and colleges in the United States so they too can benefit from the rich and rewarding experience of an international education.”

The highlight of this year’s International Education Week will be a virtual university fair from November 18 – 19 during which students can interact with university admissions officers from more than 150 U.S. universities including some schools that regularly accept Malagasy students, such as Lafayette College and Santa Rosa Junior College.

In Madagascar, the U.S. Embassy, through EducationUSA, will also offer a series of free online and live programs to provide insight into the U.S. university experience. See the schedule below for complete details.

The EducationUSA team is available throughout the year to guide prospective students through the U.S. university application process EducationUSA can be reached on Facebook at https://ift.tt/32MG4I0 and by email at antananarivo@educationusa.org.
