She recently presented during The State of Online Education webinar event. It highlighted some of the initiatives and cross-campus partnerships that contribute to student achievement and shared how faculty prepared for online learning through the summer. She noted that 95% of students who graduated in spring 2020 with an undergraduate degree had taken at least one online course. And, compared to past years, there has been an increase in the number of students who have taken more than 30 credits, or two semesters, online.

Cal State Fullerton tops the list as the Best Online College in California, and the Best Value Online College according to California Online Colleges' list of 1,506 online degrees, released this month.

Cal State Fullerton is No. 1 on the list of The Best Online Colleges in California, leading a list of 20 public and private universities. The schools were judged on factors including program quality, student support and outcomes, and especially for online support. CSUF's student success programs and online support excel beyond other schools. "For that reason, some big name California colleges that you might expect on another 'best of' list aren't here, because they do not offer online programs, or offer little online support," according to the site.

The university also takes the No. 1 spot as The Best Value Online College in California and the No. 2 slot on the list of The Most Affordable Online Colleges in California, after Cal State University, Fresno. CSU campuses dominate both lists, holding the top seven spots.

Cal State Fullerton is No. 2 on the following lists: The Top Hispanic-Serving Online Colleges and Universities in California and The Top Asian American and Pacific Islander American Serving Institutions in California. CSUF is No. 15 on the list of Most Diverse Online Colleges in California.

About 5 percent of Cal State Fullerton's 40,000 students are enrolled fully online. Undergraduates may select from three fully online bachelor's degrees, in business administration, humanities and social sciences, and sociology. The university's Extension and International Programs also offers online certificate programs in data science, human resources management, digital marketing, education and teaching, and geographic information systems. Titans also have the option of participating in CSU Fully Online, which allows students to enroll in online courses from other CSU campuses.

The Best Online Colleges lists rank more than 1,500 online degrees from 71 colleges and universities, using data from The Bureau of Labor Statistics, The National Center for Education Statistics, The U.S. Department of Education, and AcademicInfluence.com. The site is focused on online and hybrid educational opportunities in California, where data suggests that nearly 70 percent of online students enroll in schools within 45 miles of their homes. In newly released rankings by U.S. News & World Report, online programs in The School of Education at St. John's University were recognized among the Best 100 Online Programs (2021 edition). The online graduate education program was ranked #27 (up from #31 in 2020).

"At St. John's University, our committed faculty strive to meet students wherever they are found," remarked Simon G. Møller, Ph.D., Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. "Recognition from U.S. News of our online programs affirms our continued efforts to ensure student success by pivoting to digital platforms which enable a far greater range of students the chance to complete their degrees at whatever stage of life they find themselves."

St. John's University's online degree programs are among more than 1,200 such programs surveyed. Only regionally accredited institutions whose programs are offered mostly or entirely online were evaluated. Graduate programs in professional areas with the largest enrollments are evaluated annually by U.S. News, based on criteria such as employment outcomes of graduates. For the 2021 edition, the publication assessed more than 1,600 online degree programs—an all-time high. The rankings measure overall academic quality and are across varying disciplines.

David L. Bell, Ed.D., Dean of The School of Education, stated, "With talented faculty scholars and researchers committed to providing students with an engaging, convenient, and supportive learning experience, the reach of online programs is limitless."

Three Master of Science in Education programs are available online through distance learning. The Department of Education Specialties offers a 33-credit degree program in Teaching Children with Disabilities in Childhood Education (Special Education) and a 33-credit degree program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages PK–12 (TESOL).

The Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership offers a 34-credit program in School Building Leadership. Each program can lead to New York State certification, and most states offer some form of reciprocity with New York through the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements

Dean Bell noted, "We have a new generation of students who seek innovation. They look for effective use of technology. That is the future of teaching."
